Mary + Pierce | River Creek Club Wedding

True Story. A few years ago, I was in the process of building a bicycle, and it required some work from my local bike shop. I decided to go to The Bike Lane in Reston, VA due to a good referral. So, I brought my frame in to the store and proceeded to look around. While I waited in line, a tall, distinct looking gentleman kindly approached me and mentioned that I should rust proof my steel frame. He recommended a brand and procedure. Kind of random, but I appreciated the gesture. I could tell that he knew what he was talking about, mainly because of his sweet cyclist cap. I never caught his name or saw him since. And then, I got a wedding inquiry from a couple who was referred to me from my pal, Bruce. You can guess the rest.

The wedding was a whole lot of fun. Maybe too much fun, at times! There’s a certain feeling when you’re surrounded by cyclists and their friends. It’s like when you pull up to a stop sign and allow a biker to cross the intersection to prevent him from losing his or her momentum. When I’m the driver in that situation, I sometimes feel like they acknowledge the bike rack on my roof, and we nod heads to symbolize the understanding. That’s what the wedding was like. It was a pleasure to be there. Ride on!

My friend, Jon Black, came along and contributed a ton of photos to this post. Check his work out! Thanks for rocking it, Jon!
